A Broome County resident is suspected of illegally possessing weapons after a pistol and revolver were discovered in a town of Chenango house.

Authorities say 34-year-old Craig Letts of Front Street, Binghamton was arrested after an investigation by the Broome County Sheriff's Office.

Letts was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt. He also was wanted on a bench warrant for allegedly issuing a bad check.

Investigators say the man's pistol/dealer/gunsmith permit was suspended from June 2019 until last month. During that time, Letts had been ordered to turn over his firearms to the sheriff's office.

Two weapons were found in a house shortly after Letts had moved out. An investigation determined Letts had been in possession of the pistol and revolver during the suspension period, violating a judge's order.

Letts was turned over to state police in Homer in connection with a warrant issued by Marathon town court.
