Some changes are in the works for a Binghamton property that was locked down a few weeks ago.

The owner of the site at 8 Broome Street on the city's South Side says he's proceeding with plans to set up a local office for his Scranton-based trucking company.

Steven Krauss signed a settlement plan with the city on April 30. As part of the agreement, the rear portion of the building will be demolished.

A bar and lounge area exist in that section of the structure. Krauss has described it as a "mancave: where he and his friends would "hang out."

The city last year issued a lockdown warning because of police calls regarded reported problems at the site. Then, in early April, authorities investigated a shooting incident involving someone who had been inside the building.

No injuries were reported but a Binghamton man was charged with reckless endangerment in the case.

City officials said there had been evidence that an illegal after-hours bottle service club had been operating at the site.

Krauss insisted no laws were being violated. He said any problems that occurred at the building happened because too many people learned of its existence.

Krauss now says he is working with city officials to make improvements to the Broome Street property to prepare it for use by his company, Global Transportation and Delivery.

Plans call for repainting some walls and installing new flooring, along with the removal of the bar section of the building.

Krauss told WNBF News three trucks could be based at the Binghamton site, which would employ about 12 people.
