Binghamton Detectives Investigating City Shooting Incident
Police are seeking a suspect in connection with a shooting investigation in the city of Binghamton.
Several shots apparently were fired on Downs Avenue between Columbus and Merrill streets early Sunday morning.
Detective Captain Cory Minor said police were called around 6:20 a.m. by a person who heard the shots.
Minor declined to comment on how many shots investigators believe were fired but a resident in the neighborhood reported hearing what she believed to be five shots.
Minor said a parked unoccupied vehicle was struck by gunfire. Police don't believe any people or structures were hit.
A section of Downs Avenue was closed to traffic for a few hours as police searched the area for evidence.
Minor did not release a description of a possible suspect or any vehicles that may have been involved in the shooting incident.
