A Waverly woman will serve 12 years to life in prison for sexually abusing a teenaged dance school student.

34 year old Samantha Stone, who owned Creative Dance Elements studio on Water Street in Binghamton,was sentenced November 15 for predatory sexual assault against a child.

The woman, who is also known as Samantha Werkheiser, was convicted May 8th.

The dance instructor had been accused of acts of sexual conduct with a girl under the age of 13 over the course of five years, beginning in 2003.

Stone was arrested in 2011 by Binghamton Police.

During the May trial, the woman was acquitted of an additional count of sexual assault involving another girl between the ages of five and eight.

During sentencing, Stone maintained her innocence and said she had devoted her life to children.
