The City of Binghamton has condemned an abandoned home because of health and safety violations.

Mayor Richard David said the action was taken against the property at 4 Home Avenue on the South Side.

In a statement, the mayor said the house had been the site of "repeated neighborhood disturbances."

City officials say the house is a "zombie" property, a vacant and abandoned home that has not been maintained during a prolonged foreclosure proceeding.

The property was declared as unfit for habitation because of a lack of electricity, gas and water service.

In March, the city condemned a commercial and residential building at 341 Clinton Street in the First Ward following a series of complaints.
