A downtown Binghamton building that once housed a neighborhood market and, most recently, a church has a new life following a renovation project.

An insurance office has opened at 168 Susquehanna Street. The building is located at the intersection of Susquehanna and South streets, just off the Brandywine Highway.

The Kristy McWherter Agency represents Farmers Insurance. The office began operating at the site several weeks ago. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Saturday.

For many years, the site was home to Masciarelli's Market. After the store closed, the building housed the Church of God and Saints of Christ.

The property was acquired by DeAngelo Management Service of Binghamton last November for $35,000.
