Workers at Humdinger Ice Cream Shop Prepare for Season Opening
Ice cream lovers in the Binghamton area are counting down the hours and minutes until a "mom-and-pop style" shop opens its doors for the season.
Steve Kallfelz, who owns Jones' Humdinger on Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango is looking forward to getting back to business starting at noon on Saturday.
Kallfelz, along with the store manager and other workers were busy Wednesday preparing for opening day.
There was plenty of activity in the small building as ice cream was being made and equipment was being checked out.
The Humdinger traditionally opens up on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. The business has been a fixture in the town since 1957.
The ice cream shop stayed open into November last year because of decent weather and high demand.
