The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team is preparing for their second season under Head Coach Linda Cimino.  They open play on Friday, November 6 at the Events Center against East Stroudsburg in an exhibition game.  They travel to Michigan to play on Saturday, November 14 and return to host NJIT on Monday night November 16th.

The Bearcats received a major blow when standout guard Jasmine Sina suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice.  Sina had a remarkable freshman season averaging 14.8 points per game which was fourth best in America East.  She was named the America East Rookie of the Year.  She will redshirt this season and return for three more seasons of eligibility.

Another standout who had a tremendous freshman season is Imani Watkins.  Watkins was an America East Rookie Team selection and averaged 13.5 points per game....tenth in the conference.  She will be counted on to be even more productive with the absence of Sina.

One notable newcomer will be forward Alyssa James, the niece of former NBA All-Star Patrick Ewing.  She sat out last season after transferring from Caldwell College where she played under Coach Cimino. At 6-1 James will be counted on to give the Bearcats a much needed boost in rebounding and inside defense.  At Caldwell as a freshman James had 81 blocked shots and averaged 9.7 rebounds per game.
