Coach Tommy Dempsey and his staff were looking to find out more about their team when the Binghamton Bearcats hosted the Hartford Hawks at the Events Center. The February 3 contest was expected show whether the Bearcats really are getting better or are still in the bottom portion of the America East standings.

Hartford went in 4-5 and in fifth place in the conference standings.  The Bearcats were 3-7.  The Hawks lost four straight games while Binghamton won two in a row.

In a meeting in Hartford last month the Hawks defeated Binghamton 69-59.  BU shot 55 percent from the field in that game.  Freshman Romello Walker was 8-12 shooting and scored 17 points to pace the Bearcats.  Marlon Beck fired in 16 points for the Bearcats as well. Forward Mark Nwakamma paced the Hawks with 18 points and 12 rebounds.  There is a chance

Hartford leads the overall series versus Binghamton...holding an 18-11 edge.  The Hawks have won eight consecutive games against Binghamton and have won seven and lost six against the Bearcats at the Events Center.
