Some people will ask how can a team with a 4-10 conference record face a key regular season game ?  But for the Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team tonight's game in Hartford against the Hawks is just that...a key game. Key on two fronts.  The Bearcats have yet to defeat a team in America East near the top of the conference.  Wins have come against teams at or below BU.  And key because for the first time in three seasons the talk around Binghamton men's basketball is how high will our seed be ?  Not last place like the past couple of campaigns.

The Bearcats have won three of their last four games including a pair on the road.  A win tonight over the 8-6 Hawks could give the Bearcats a chance to finish as high as a fifth seed for the upcoming America East Tournament set for next weekend in Albany.  Finishing as a fifth or sixth seed gets the Bearcats away from facing the conference's top two teams (Vermont and Stony Brook).

In a previous meeting at the Events Center on January 23rd the Hawks topped the Bearcats 56-54.  Taylor Dyson scored a basket on a put-back with 3.9 seconds left to pull out the win for Hartford.  The Hawks' Wes Cole scored a game high 24 points hitting eight three-point shots to lead their attack.

Airtime tonight from The Chase Family Arena is 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.  Following tonight's game the Bearcats close out the regular season at home Sunday at 2 PM against Vermont.
