The Binghamton Bearcats battled the Stony Brook Seawolves for much of the game on Coaches versus Cancer Day, but in the end the solid effort was not enough to defeat one of the top teams in America East.  Stony Brook defeated Binghamton 61-54 to up its America East record to 5-2 while the Bearcats fall to 1-6.

Stony Brook took a 32-26 lead into the dressing room at the half. Binghamton rallied in the second half and took a 46-45 lead on a Willie Rodriguez bucket with 5:30 left in the game.  That seemed to ignite the Seawolves as they went on a 16-9 run to finish the game.  Overall, the Bearcats were only outscored by one point...29-28 in the second half.

Carson Puriefoy led all scorers with 27 points including a 10-13 showing at the free throw line and a trio of three-pointers,  He took over the game in the second half scoring 14 of his team's last 16 points.  After Binghamton had taken the one point advantage the Seawolves reeled off 11 consecutive points.

Next up for the Bearcats is a Wednesday night road game at UMBC.  Air is set for 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
