B.U. Research Foundation Gets Federal Grant to Attract Foreign Investors
The U.S. Department of Commerce is making a significant investment into research at Binghamton University.
The Department’s Economic Development Administration is awarding $1.6 million in a grant to the Research Foundation at B.U. The money will support the Southern Tier Soft Landing program to attract foreign business investment in the region.
The project is to be matched with $404,730 dollars in local funds.

The E.D.A. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, Alejandra Castillo says the project will provide immigration and visit assistance as well as access to capital funding, translation services and market research that will help encourage private investment in the Southern Tier region.
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer says over 300 jobs could be created as a result of the program grant money.
