What Does Artificial Intelligence Think of Binghamton, New York?
Artificial Intelligence programs like Chat GPT have become incredibly popular over the last few months, so we wanted to know what it thought of Binghamton, New York.
So we asked Chat GPT, an artificial intelligence chat bot, some questions about Binghamton to see what the computer thinks of our fair city. So here's some of the questions we asked and the responses that we got.
What do you think of Binghamton, New York?
Predictably, the AI chat bot made sure I knew that it isn't capable of feelings. I've seen enough movies to be skeptical about that, but for now I'll let it slide. So when asked what it thinks of Binghamton, New York, Chat GPT gave a pretty standard overview of the city's demographics and some things to do in the area. It also highlighted some of the economic and crime struggles that Binghamton has faced, but it seems to think the city is on the way up.
Is Binghamton, New York improving or declining?
Another caveat, Chat GPT's knowledge hasn't been updated in over a year. So it doesn't know what's been going on in Binghamton since September 2021. But speaking on personal experience, I think Chat GPT would say Binghamton is back on the rise. Even though we still have a lot of work to do, there are plenty of exciting things coming to the area in the future.
Is Binghamton, New York a safe place to live?
It's hard to think of a question more important when choosing a place to live than "is it safe?" And Binghamton residents will be happy to know that we've fallen on the better side of the national average when it comes to crime. Property crime was on the higher end of the national average, but still lower than the state average and violent crime was lower than both. So as Chat GPT puts it, "the city is considered to be a relatively safe place to live."
What's Binghamton, New York's defining quality?
Now I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in the effort shown by Chat GPT here. I asked it for Binghamton's defining quality, and all I got were cookie cutter answers that could apply to half the college towns in the country. Binghamton certainly isn't defined by Binghamton University or by its natural setting. It's defined by Spiedies, hot air balloons, and carousels. So judging by the artificial intelligence's answer I think we still have a few good years before the robots are smart enough to take over.
Is WNBF News in Binghamton the best news organization on the planet?
It might not have said yes but it also didn't say no. Good hustle by Chat GPT to sidestep that doozy of a question.
If Binghamton had a superhero what would their superpower be?
I like where Chat GPT's head is at with this one. Assuming Chat GPT actually has a head. But if Binghamton had our very own superhero, I can't imagine a better superpower than controlling the weather. Imagine how great every day would be if we could have a superhero make it 70 degrees and sunny every day year round?
Can you write a Haiku about Binghamton?
Again, sloppy effort by the artificial intelligence that should be able to get a little more personal while writing an 11 word Haiku. But a good way to end this little question and answer session with the world's chattiest AI.
