Tenney Announces Congressional Art Competition
Newly elected Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announces an art competition for 11th and 12th grade students in the 22nd congressional district.
The art competition has been attracting high school juniors and seniors for almost forty years, and is held each spring to offer students a chance to showcase their artistic talents.
The competition includes students from congressional districts across the nation, with the winning piece of art being put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for a period of one year.
According to a press release from Tenney’s office, the submissions will be judged by a panel of professional artists, and art teachers across the 22nd district.
Tenney says “It is always an honor to host the Congressional Art Competition and recognize the talented students across the 22nd District", the congresswoman encourages all qualified students to participate, and show off their creativity, for a chance at national exposure.
The news release lists the acceptable art mediums as;
- Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal
- Collages (must be two dimensional)
- Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
- Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor
- Computer-generated art
All of the art work is due by the close of business on Friday April 23, 2021, you can hand delivery, or mail to one of the following 22nd district offices. (please allow for shipping time)
