February has just begun, a winter storm is approaching, snow from the last storm continues to cover the ground, it's cold and dreary and that darn groundhog has predicted at least six more weeks of winter. Well, at least six more weeks of winter in the Southern Tier of New York and Northern Tier of Pennsylvania is a given. If this year is like most others, it's more like 8 weeks or more.

But, that's no reason not to wish or think for spring and summer. I already have my vacations set for the year and look forward to getting back to the campground for the warm months of the year.

Some signs of spring are not far away including major league baseball beginning spring training (hopefully, barring the MLB lockout situation) and in the Binghamton area, the time to apply for summer jobs in the City of Binghamton is now.
