It appears the stakes are being raised concerning the location of a Las Vegas-style casino in the Southern Tier should voters approve Proposition One next week.

The existing Tioga Downs in Nichols, which currently has harness racing and video gaming terminals, has been looking to expand and include table games if it is selected by New York State.

Now, The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin reports Vista Hospitality Group is planning to also submit a bid to locate a casino in the Greater Binghamton Area.

Vista owns several hotels including the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton and Quality Inn & Suites in Vestal as well as shopping malls, resorts, retirement homes and other properties.

The company was started in 1992 by brothers Amin and Ally Visram.
