Rep. Anthony Brindisi is the only Democrat in New York's congressional delegation not publicly supporting the presidential impeachment inquiry.

Staten Island Democrat Max Rose has announced his support for the effort but Brindisi, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, has suggested his colleagues may be moving too quickly against President Trump.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Wednesday, Brindisi said acknowledged "the very serious allegations against the president that impact our national security."

But Brindisi said "I'm not going to prejudge the outcome." He said he's "reviewing the facts in a very thoughtful and deliberative manner."

The first-term congressman said he believes "everyone should slow down and not let the cable news or social media drive the conversation."

Brindisi there are "a lot more phone calls coming into the office on this issue" as constituents express their views on the possibility of impeachment.

The congressman said "at this point, I do not support impeachment." He compared his position to that of a juror who ultimately needs to weigh all available facts in a case before rendering a decision.

Brindisi defeated Republican Claudia Tenney in a close race last November to represent the district that covers several counties and includes the cities of Binghamton and Utica.

Tenney Tuesday announced she is seeking her party's nomination in the district, hoping to set up a rematch with Brindisi next year.
