Broome County may soon have a year-round farmer’s market in the Town of Dickinson.

The Town is reviewing the plans but the proposal looks to locate the market behind Cornell Cooperative Extension on Upper Front Street.  Officials say they hope to break ground in the fall and open late next summer.

In addition to regional farm products, the development also calls for a test kitchen to help market consumer use for the produce offered.

Officials say the location, right off Interstate 81 and near the 17 interchange makes the future market convenient, not only for local residents but for visitors.

Otsiningo Park had been considered, but, due to Native American remains unearthed by an archeological survey, the site was rejected.
