In a bizarre July 4th Holiday game the Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium by a final score of 3-1.  Construction at Hartford's new stadium has had numerous problems and they have been forced to play many of their "home" games in their opponent's ball park.  That was the case Monday night.  Hartford was considered the home team and batted second.  To top it off no fans were admitted and the contest was played before only a handful of girlfriends, wives, friends and other family members.  With no tickets sold the Eastern League takes care of the expenses to play the game.  Should the B-Mets have opted to open the gates they would have incurred all expenses for ushers, vendors, security and EMS personnel.  The same situation will be in effect tonight when the two teams meet again at NYSEG Stadium at 6:05 (air at 5:50 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF).

With the game tied at 1-1 in the eighth inning the Yard Goats scored a pair of runs to forge ahead 3-1.  Binghamton could not answer in the ninth inning and the Yard Goats went on to win 3-1.
