Wreaths Across America Honors Veterans December 13

Volunteers around the nation have signed up to place wreaths on veterans’ headstones December 13 for the 23^rd annual Wreaths Across America Day.

Tioga County's event focuses on the Veterans Memorial in Owego.

Organizers say volunteers lay over 500,000 wreaths on veterans’ headstones to remember the fallen and honor those who currently serve.

Nine ceremonial wreaths honoring Tioga County’s 172 fallen heroes are placed at the Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, World War Two and World War One memorials as well as the Tioga Count Memorial for all who served and the Tioga County Union Memorial for the Civil War.
