The Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team inspired fans on hand at NYSEG Stadium last night as they took on two area all-star teams. The Wounded Warriors (WWAST) faced a team of local law enforcement members in the first game of a doubleheader.  In the second outing of the night they played a team of all-stars from BAE.

WWAST members are outstanding athletes who suffered severe injuries in military service with our country.  Injuries in all cases resulted in amputation of a limb.

WWAST players showed that despite devastating injuries suffered in defense of the United States of America, they can still compete at a high level.  In their game versus BAE they crushed softballs all over the field including a home run over the left-field fence over 350 feet away, a double off the left-field wall and a fly ball caught just in front of the warning track.  WWAST won the game 22-15 for those keeping score.

On hand were many veterans of the armed services who cheered on the players with every play made.  The night was capped off with a gigantic, patriotic fireworks show.
