Binghamton University president doctor Harvey Stenger Friday morning, April 1 told WNBF News the student who was injured during a shooting at a Virginia bus station has been released from the hospital and is going to be fine, although help is being offered as she deals with the emotional impact of being wounded in a shooting incident.  The woman is a member of the track team that was on its way to William and Mary College in Williamsport for a track meet.

Dr. Stenger thanked Virginia Commonwealth University officials and staff in Richmond, where the shooting occurred, for their assistance for the members of the track team, feeding them and helping them get to Williamsport as well as staff of William and Mary, who met the team upon arrival to offer support.

Police say James Brown of Aurora, Illinois, shot Trooper Chad Dermyer several times at the Greyhound bus station Thursday before Brown was killed by two other troopers.  Demyer was part of a group of law enforcement officials conducting a drug detection/ interception drill at the bus station when the shooting occurred.

Brown’s aunt, who raised him, said he had a long criminal history and a hatred for police

Officials have not released the names of the student or the other woman who was injured. The university says, out of respect for the students and their families, no further information on the shooting will be issued.
