Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption] Endicott Police Investigators now say the incident in which a woman was hit by a westbound Norfolk Southern train at 11:52 p.m. March 22 is a case of apparent suicide by train.

Officials say a 26 year old woman was seen by the train engineer and conductor leaving a parked vehicle, running onto the tracks and laying down across both rails.

The train was unable to stop.

The incident happened in the area of North Oak Avenue North Oak Avenue.

The name of the woman is not being released pending family notifications.

The investigation is continuing.
