One person died and two others were hurt in a two-vehicle collision in Delaware County.

Authorities say a pickup truck crashed head-on into a sport utility vehicle on Route 23 in the town of Roxbury.

State police say the collision occurred late Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say 71-year-old Elvira Vogt of Jefferson, who was driving the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, 71-year-old Robert Vogt, sustained a broken arm and other injuries. He was taken to Albany Medical Center.

Police say 19-year-old Thomas Schmiedel of Prattsville, who was driving the pickup truck, sustained internal injuries. He initially was taken to Fox Hospital in Oneonta and then was transferred to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Schmiedel was charged with driving while intoxicated. Investigators say more charges are pending.

An 18-year-old man who was riding in the truck was not hurt.
