Woman Dies in Cortland County Crash
A woman died after the car she was driving collided with a truck in a weather-related crash in the town of Lapeer.
Authorities say it happened just before 3:30 Monday afternoon on Route 221 near Clarks Corners Road.
According to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office, a westbound car crossed into the eastbound lane on a curve. Investigators say the drive apparently lost control of her vehicle because of weather conditions.
The car was struck by a panel truck.
Police say the car driver was taken to Cortland Regional Hospital, where she later died.
A car passenger was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of serious injuries.
The truck driver and a passenger in the truck were not hurt.
