In his last hours as Mayor of the City of Binghamton, Matthew Ryan presented Binghamton Now host, Bob Joseph and producer, Kathy Whyte with keys to the City of Binghamton.

In his last appearance on the program December 31, the Democrat praised the show for providing an open forum for discussion of issues and an avenue for the public to have access to elected officials.

Ryan served two, four-year terms in City Hall before leaving office under term limits.

His successor is Republican Mayor Richard David, who was elected in November after being defeated by Ryan in a previous run for the job four years ago.
