The National Weather Service in Binghamton has now issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Central New York and most of Northeast Pennsylvania from 10 a.m. Friday morning until 7 a.m. Saturday morning as a powerful winter storm is set to churn up the east coast.

The NWS says we can expect between 5 and 8 inches of snow beginning Friday morning and lasting until early Saturday morning.  Higher elevations could see upwards of 10+ inches of snow.

Depending on the track of the storm, some sleet, freezing rain, or rain may mix in during the morning and early afternoon on Friday.

The heaviest snow could fall during the afternoon and evening on Friday making the commute home very treacherous for motorists.

According to the National Weather Service a Winter Storm Warning means that significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are expected or are occurring. Strong winds are also possible which will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
