The National Weather Service says hypothermia and frostbite are very serious dangers today.

A Wind Chill Warning has been issued until noon.  Forecasters say wind chill readings could dip as low as minus 35, which could cause frostbite to exposed skin in minutes.

Officials say winds could reach to up to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.

Ambient air temperatures early today were at about -3 but could be down to -15 or lower in some areas

The National Weather Service says a Wind Chill Warning is issued when cold temperatures combine with winds to create dangerous conditions for exposed skin.

The conditions that are currently projected could result in frostbite in 15 minutes or less and could lead to hypothermia.

Residents should make sure all skin is covered before they venture out and remember to wear a hat since a majority of body heat escapes through the top of the head.

Officials also remind anyone headed outside that several layers of clothing will keep you warmer than one thick layer, like a single, heavy coat.
