Cortland County Sheriff’s officials are continuing to investigate the shooting of a hunter in the Town of Willet December 6 but are revealing the identities of the two men involved.

Authorities say 24 year old William Cobb of Willet was hunting in the woods off Route 221, unbeknownst to 53 year old Michael Quail of Marathon, who was also hunting in the area.

Investigators say Quail reportedly fired a single round that hit Cobb in the abdomen.

Cobb was flown to a Syracuse hospital and has since been released.
