Whole in the Wall at 43 South Washington Street on Binghamton's Southside is a wonderful restaurant.  It's not big but there is plenty of room to enjoy your meal. They are taking part in Binghamton Restaurant Week.  My wife Beth and I visited for dinner last night and had a tremendous evening.

Restaurant Week features a number of restaurants in Binghamton with special prices on lunches and dinners during the ten days it is held from April 1 -10.  Lunches are priced at $12 and under with dinners set for $25 or less.  Both lunches and dinners are at least three courses.

I started off the evening with Whole in the Wall's Mini Baba appetizer.  It features eggplant spread with onion and garlic and served with pita wedges.  Beth enjoyed the Mini Tempura Onion Rings.  These are batter dipped spanish onions  with delicious homemade tamari-ginger sauce.

For the second course we each chose their homemade soup.  Bethh had their soup of the day...minestrone with cheese and I chose mushroom soup. Several people told me when they find out we were going to eat there that we had to try their mushroom soup.  I did and loved it.  Delicious, fresh mushrooms  were a highlight and well worth the advice...Have some !!!

For our entree I ordered their whole enchilada with re-fried beans. This was topped with sprouts and sour cream.  The beans were baked in Whole in the Wall's own secret sauce that gives them a delicious flavor.  Beth had pierogie lasagna which features the unique taste of homemade pierogie with white sauce lasagna. It also was highlighted with cheddar and ricotta cheese.  She couldn't finish it so I did !  It was very, very good !

Then, it was on to the fourth course.  Dessert !  We both chose the raspberry chocolate chip brownie sundae teaser.  Not only does it taste great but wait til you see it !  It's a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, raspberry sauce, fresh whipped cream and cinnamon.  Quite a treat to finish an enjoyable evening.

Whole in the Wall's service was excellent.  Phil, our waiter, did a fine job and was quite knowledgeable on all the different specials, items and ingredients .Binghamton  Restaurant Week continues through tomorrow night.  Visit a participating restaurant and enjoy !
