A Whitney Point teen is accused of hitting a Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy in the face as the officer was investigating a report of a fight outside a home January 4.

Officials say the people allegedly involved failed to cooperate and claimed to be “just horsing around”. But when Deputy John Akshar checked the names of those present, he found 18 year old Brandon Pittsley was wanted on a warrant.

The Deputy found Pittsley lying on a bed inside the home on State Route 79 and informed him he was being taken into custody.

Pittsley reportedly hit the Deputy while resisting arrest, causing minor injuries.  He’s charged with felony attempted assault, resisting arrest and the original warrant for harassment and is being held in the Broome County Jail without bail.
