Residents in the Whitney Point School District will be deciding whether to go forwards with over $13 million for capital improvements that will also include projects like lockdown alarms, stage lighting and new pre-kindergarten classrooms with no impact to the residential tax rate.  Voting is from 1 to 8 p.m. November 3 in the high school cafeteria.

The district has reportedly been able to use its budget capital reserve fund to cover roughly 12% of the cost with New York State funding taking care of the rest.

The major work of the project will be done in the first phase and includes a major roofing project.

The complete upgrade plan is projected to be complete by October 2018.
