The man who founded a popular restaurant in the village of Whitney Point has died.

Vito Aiello died on Friday at the age of 83. According to a published obituary, Aiello was born in Italy and moved with his family to the United States in 1972.

Aiello worked for the United Nations. After his retirement, he established Aiello's Restaurant for his sons to operate.

According to the obituary, visiting will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Services at 2659 Main Street in Whitney Point.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Church in Whitney Point on Thursday at 10 a.m.
