A New Jersey man is dead after a crash on Interstate 81 near Whitney Point.

Authorities say 69-year-old Jules Abramovitz of Morristown was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened a few minutes before ten o'clock Monday morning on I-81 North at the Route 26 overpass in the town of Triangle.

Investigators say Abramovitz was driving a 2013 Kia Soul. The vehicle went off the left shoulder of the highway and became airborne. It struck a concrete bridge support and came to a rest under the bridge.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, an autopsy determined death was due to head trauma.

Authorities say Abramovitz was heading to Rochester for work.

Police say speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
