New York State Electric and Gas says even though Hurricane Joaquin is now forecast to remain well off the East Coast, it is good to always be prepared for flash flooding, river and stream flooding and power outages.

NYSEG says no significant impact from the storm is expected in the utility’s service area but the approach of Joaquin has served as a good reminder for people to have emergency plans and an emergency kit in place and for people who live in areas prone to flash flooding to review procedures for quick evacuation.

NYSEG offers storm safety information on their website: www.nyseg.com. Click on “Outage Central” then on “Storm Safety.”
