Area sports teams are being pounded by the wet and cold spring weather with plenty of postponements and rainouts.  Baseball and softball teams have been hit the hardest.

The Binghamton Mets will try it again tonight at NYSEG Stadium after getting rained out in their series opener last night.  It is the second game in the first five scheduled games to be postponed due to harsh weather conditions.  Last night's game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on June 14th at NYSEG Stadium.

Area high school sports have also been plagued by the wet and cold conditions.  Area colleges have had major weather issues as well. SUNY Broome softball against Herkimer scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled due to wet field conditions and bad weather.  The Hornets baseball games scheduled for today at Hornet Field against Finger Lakes Community College have also been cancelled.  No make-up dates have been scheduled.

At Binghamton University the softball team travels to Albany for a doubleheader today.  They have been able to get all of their scheduled games in although most to this point have been played in the south.  Baseball has lost five games off their schedule due to weather issues.  They are scheduled to meet Bucknell in a single game today at BU at 3 PM.
