Several New York residents are in the middle of disaster areas following tornadoes and other severe weather in Texas and Oklahoma.

The American Red Cross says seven volunteers from the Southern Tier, Central and Western New York have been sent to help with immediate needs of victims.

Lee Campfield of Apalachin, Tom Daley of Tonawanda, Lucille Frisicano of Webster, Greg Langen of Pittsford, Donald Nelson of Endwell, Sarah Perkins of Pittsford and Diane Sargent have all been deployed by the regional chapters.

The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and support in the affected areas.  Shelters are open in Oklahoma and Texas while emergency response vehicle are also traveling through communities to bring food and supplies to residents.
