A Johnson City man who pleaded guilty to attempted arson for setting a fire at the Weis Supermarket in West Corners also admits he called authorities and falsely reported shots fired and people being held against their will.

22 year old Zachary Constable has been sentenced to one to three years in state prison, to be served concurrently with a three year term for falsely reporting an incident.

Police said Constable was a disgruntled employee and set a fire in a coat room at around 3 p.m. February 16, which the sprinkler system quickly put out.  There were numerous employees and customers in the store at the time.

Johnson City Police had also received several complaints about fires, shots and unlawful imprisonment prior to the Weis Market fire, which were traced back to a home on Crocker Avenue in the Village.
