Wegmans Recalls Some Organic Ground Beef

Wegmans has announced a recall of some packages of organic ground beef.

The Rochester-based company says the meat may be contaminated with small strips of translucent, flexible plastic.

The items being recalled are small packs and family packs of "Wegmans 93% Lean Organic" ground beef. The affected packages have a use or freeze-by date of January 16, 2015.

J&G Foods of Sutton, Massachusetts, issued issued the recall of nearly 34,000 pounds of beef.

The packages were shipped to Wegmans stores in New York, Pennsylvania and four other states.

People with the recalled beef may return it to Wegmans for a refund.
