The American Heart Association is urging everyone to wear red on National Wear Red Day to show support for the fight against heart disease and stroke in women.  Go Red For Women works every day to fund research and help in the fight against heart disease. This year's National Wear Red Day is set for February 5th.

By wearing red participants show unity and support in fighting these dread diseases.  Each year one in three women dies from the effects of heart disease and stroke.

According to the American Heart Association cardiovascular diseases claimed 801,000 lives.  Heart disease killed more than 370,000 people.  Stroke killed nearly 129,000 people.  About 795,000 people had a stroke and 750,000 people in the nation suffered a heart attack.
