Virtual Turkey Donations to Help Hungry in Southern Tier

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is holding its ninth annual Virtual Turkey Drive in an effort to raise $80,000 dollars to buy holiday meals for needy Southern Tier residents.

Online donations can be made at www.foodbankst.org.  Tioga Downs is matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000.

Officials with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier say for every dollar donated, three meals can be provided for residents facing food insecurity.

It’s estimated over 72,000 Southern Tier residents are living at or below the poverty level.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier operates with partner programs and agencies in Broome, Tioga, Tompkins, Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben Counties.
