Vireo Health Accused of Smuggling

A medical marijuana distribution company, which has a site in Johnson City, is being implicated in an illegal smuggling case.

Several sources report Vireo Health is accused of smuggling a $500,000 worth of marijuana-based drugs from its Minnesota headquarters to New York State in order to meet a deadline for starting New York's medical marijuana initiative.

The company denies the allegations made by a former employee and said the drugs allegedly involved in the case had been destroyed and says it is confident regulatory agency investigations will find the allegations to be false.
