Veto Overrides in Broome County

Willow Point will still lose some Broome County funding.

The Legislature has overridden all three budget vetoes from Broome County Executive Debra Preston after they made changes to increase the sharing of sales tax revenues and moving some nursing home funds.

Critics of the restoration of the sales tax formula to a 50-50 share between the county and municipalities had said the sudden move right after the election, as Republicans are to firmly control the legislature, was a political slap to hamper the incoming Democratic County Executive who was elected to replace Republican Debra Preston.
