Veterinary Dr. John Ayres Passes Away at 100

A long-time area veterinarian is being remembered by family and friends after passing away May 27.

John Ayres, who, at one time was City Veterinarian for Binghamton, Ross Park Zoo and the Broome County Humane Society, was 100.  Ayres also had a private practice and established the annual Broome County Rabies Vaccination Program.

He designated his body be donated to science before burial.

A Memorial Mass will be held June 18 at Saints John and Andrew Catholic Church on Vestal Ave. in Binghamton.  Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. followed by the Mass.
