Funeral services will be held April 10th at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton for Binghamton firefighter John Janos, who was found dead at the West State Street fire station over the weekend.

Janos was on a standard 24-hour shift and had responded to a smoke alarm shortly after midnight April 6th before he was found at the fire station later that morning.

The 57 year old was not only a Binghamton firefighter, but also a paramedic and had served at one time as the president of Binghamton firefighters' union 729.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Calling hours will be held April 9th will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at J.A. McCormick Funeral Home at 141 Main Street, Binghamton.

The family requests that donations in Firefighter Janos' name be made to The Professional Firefighters Cancer Research Fund, 4 Loretta Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
