Two Vestal men have been arrested in connection with a series of vandalism cases over the past six months.

The suspects also are accused of breaking into a Vestal church early Thursday and stealing a safe, cameras and a laptop computer.

Authorities say 19-year-old Brandon Seagrave of Glenwood Road and 18-year-old Robert Spencer of Maple Street have been charged with burglary and making graffiti. They also face several counts of criminal mischief.

Investigators say a Vestal police officer stopped a suspicious vehicle after it left a car dealer parking lot around four o'clock Thursday morning.

Police say one of the men was spotted "clinging to the outside of the passenger side door."

After the vehicle was pulled over, officers noticed several cans of spray paint in the vehicle, along with the small safe and electronics taken from the Lighthouse Baptist Church on South Jensen Road.

Seagrave was ticketed for operating a vehicle with an inadequate taillight and while permitting a person to cling to a vehicle.

Vestal police detective Sergeant Christopher Streno says windows were broken in some of the vandalism incidents. He says the cases resulted in thousands of dollars in property damage.

Seagrave and Spencer were arraigned in front of a Vestal town justice. They were sent to Broome County Jail pending future court action.
