Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]The former Ken Wilson Chevrolet property at 2545 Vestal Parkway East is changing hands and will make way for a development that will include stores and restaurants.

An informal get-together is planned for September 27 for those interested in remembering the years the dealership was in operation.

The building, which was designed by James Mowry, was constructed in 1964. Architectural experts say it was notable for its "stylish geometric concrete roof."

Patricia Weaver is a sister of the late Ken Wilson. Weaver said she and other family members were "all excited" when the business opened its doors.

Weaver said the building is "not coming down right away" but she said she didn't know when the new owners would start demolition work.

The gathering at the old Ken Wilson building was scheduled to run from one to four p.m. There'll be food and classic cars on hand for those who want to share some memories.

Weaver said she was  unsure how many people would show up. She said it could be 30 or 100 or more. Regardless of how many attend, Weaver said it will be a "bittersweet" event for those who had connections to the Ken Wilson business.
