The project began early last year on the 19-acre site just west of Route 26.

The facility is owned Sheedy Road LLC, which is affiliated with Upstate Services Group of Spring Valley in Rockland County.

Nursing home administrator Denise Johnson and representatives of Upstate Services Group could not be reached immediately to comment on when the facility is expected to start operating.

People who live near the nursing home say they've been told the opening could occur this spring, possibly in May.

Plans call for a 160-bed skilled nursing area and a 40-bed assisted nursing facility. The project also is expected to include a 31-bed adult day care section.

The nursing home will replace a Vestal Road complex which sustained extensive flood damage in September 2011.
