Former Vestal resident, Mary Greene Sherlach is now in the Hall of Fame at her old high school.

The Sandy Hook Elementary school psychologist was killed in the mass shooting at the Connecticut school as she ran toward gunman, Adam Lanza in an attempt to stop the carnage.

May 30th, Sherlach's husband, Bill accepted the award on behalf of his late wife at Vestal High School.

Sherlach graduated from Vestal High School in 1974.

Other inductees this year are University of Texas professor Dennis Darling, class of 1965, ornithologist and athlete Dr. Alfred Dufty, Junior, class of 1968 and environmental engineer R. David Hollbrook, class of 1988.
