A 20 year old Vestal man says he's sorry for the killing of the 16 year old mother of his child last June.

Steven Lipka spoke in court at his sentencing in the presence of the family of Shelby Jenkins.  He said he regretted what happened as he was sentenced to 18 years in prison on the manslaughter charge.

Authorities were called to a home in Vestal with the report of an unresponsive person. Jenkins was found not breathing and attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.  A Broome County coroner found the teen had been strangled.
